SPATS Theatre School focuses upon
high quality, professionally based, acting tuition for all ages within the community. SPATS is not a franchise and continues
to operate under the direction of its founder, professional actor, tutor and director, John Hester. While some aspects of
musical theatre are sometimes incorporated into the courses, SPATS is rooted firmly in acting techniques and skills, and all the courses are heavily influenced
by John’s own training and experience over many years.
SPATS does not necessarily aim to encourage its students to join the professional ranks (although it provides a very
sound basis for students whose vocation lies in this direction). Many parents who send their children to the classes, or who
join themselves, are seeking to broaden the imagination, enhance communication and develop all of the many ‘life skills’
which drama education brings and for which SPATS is particularly known. However, this may lead to further study and many of
SPATS students, of all ages, have progressed forwards to drama school or university to study drama.
SPATS is for those who love acting and wish to improve and develop their skills, whether it be for fun, personal development
or the beginning of a life-long passion and possible career.
Unlike many theatre schools, SPATS is passionate about providing training opportunities for adults as well as children.
All group sizes are kept low so as to ensure the maximum of individual attention.
SPATS has never had a problem with discipline and is students are faultlessly courteous, positive and sensible.
Private Lessons—for those wishing to take Speech & Drama examination, enter festivals
, prepare auditions or simply benefit from one2one tuition, private lessons are available at very reasonable rates.
